Women in Dance Leadership Conference

Danielle is excited to be returning to the Women in Dance Leadership Conference for a second time. She looks forward to engaging with a community of scholars and artists that uphold the mission, "To investigate, explore, and reflect on women’s leadership by representing innovative and multicultural dance work to celebrate, develop, and promote women’s leadership in dance making, dance related fields, and other male dominated professions." She is also elated that Heather Booysen's photography project Dance History Recaptured, will be displayed outside the Mandell Theater during the length of the conference. Earlier this year Danielle portrayed the likeness of Martha Graham for the project and looks forward to seeing those photos along with many others on display. Performing, Teaching, and Adjudicating at the National High School Shakespeare Competition

Thrilled to be moving in all capacities, Danielle will be performing an original tap solo in the Friday night Showcase along with her new colleagues performances. Additionally she will be teaching Modern, Contemporary, and Jazz to high school students from Utah and the surrounding states. Recruitment for the Southern Utah University Dance Program

Danielle will be heading to Las Vegas Academy of the Arts to recruit for Southern Utah University's Dance Program. She is thrilled to be attending the audition and is particularly excited to see the students' solos. In addition, this year's audition will include jazz along with their regularly scheduled ballet and modern auditions. New Choreographic Commission for Zodiaque Dance Company

Danielle will be guest choreographing once again for Zodiaque Dance Company's Fall performance. She is thrilled to be returning to her alma mater, this time as a Guest Choreographer. Guest Teaching for ECU Summer Jazz Dance Camp

Danielle will be guest teaching once again at East Carolina University's Summer Jazz Dance Camp August 12-16, 2019 and this year will be working with both middle school and high school dancers as well. Wednesday, June 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th & July 3rd

Intermediate Level Conditioning, Ballet and Contemporary Class

$15 per class for Members

$30 per class for Non-Members

In this class series students will first experience conditioning exercises specific to the feet/ankles, hips, and spine in order create balance between strength and flexibility where a contemporary understanding of individual alignment will be upheld. Ballet barre will consist of an eclectic mix of classical line with contemporary ballet with a focus on the foundation of both épaulement and head placement, along with attention to the refinement of technique as a means to increase artistry and performance quality. In the center students will move through contemporary movement phrases and combinations where opposing means of lengthening are explored throughout.

2019 SoloDuo Dance Festival at Dixon Place

Danielle's solo work IF has been selected to perform at the SoloDuo Festival in NYC. Dancer Jennifer Martin will be performing the work and both are excited to reconnect for the performance. The mission of the festival is to, "To celebrate the special art of the solo and duet, while creating additional opportunities to display the latest work of both emerging and renowned choreographers, WHITE WAVE’s 2019 SoloDuo Dance Festival (May 18th & 19th) will be held at the Dixon Place, a setting nestled in the heart of the Downtown scene, located at the junction of the Lower East Side and East Village. This space inspires performing artists of all stripes and callings to stretch the limits of their creativity and take it to new heights. Cathy Wendel Lista Dance Showcase

Danielle's most recent work, NEVER, the less will be showcased at the Cathy's Dance Showcase, on the Mainstage at the Center for the Arts on University at Buffalo's North Campus. This performance's proceeds go to the Cathleen Wendel Lista Memorial Fund which supports a dance scholarship for one UB Dance student. Dance Legends Recaptured

Photographer, Heather Booysen of Movement in Motion Photography has recently released her dance history blog Dance Legends Recaptured. In November of 2018, Danielle had the opportunity to re-imagine some iconic images of Martha Graham for the blog and she's thrilled to be collaborating alongside fellow dance educators Tom Ralabate, Amy Vankirk, and Meghen Leigh McKinley. Commissioned Work for "Dances On" Zodiaque Dance Company's Spring Performance

Danielle will be presenting another commissioned work for Zodiaque Dance Company's Spring 2019 performance. Dances On. The performance will take place at the Center for the Arts Drama Theatre March 7th-10th, 2019. She will be exploring soul music and its intricate dynamics to jazz dance. She's once again looking forward to creating on the talented undergraduate dance majors at the University at Buffalo. Danielle is seriously invested in the process and is excited to explore traditional and contemporary movement possibilities blending the there and then with the here and now and seeing just how far we have come. A New Work Showcased at Celebration 45! Zodiaque Dance Company's 45th Anniversary

Zodiaque Dance Company commissioned a new work for their 45th anniversary celebration. Danielle's latest creaation Corvus was presented from November 15th-18th, 2018 at the Center for the Arts in the Drama Theatre at the University at Buffalo. "awhile" Selected to Perform at Dance Wave's Dancing Through College and Beyond Showcase

"awhile" was invited to perform at the 2018 Dancing Through College and Beyond Showcase held at Hunter College on October 13th, 2018. Dancewave’s Dancing Through College & Beyond (DTCB) is a one of a kind nationwide event, serving over hundreds of high school students annually. Providing a much needed service to the dance industry and to high school students, DTCB offers talented young dancers the opportunity to connect, one-on-one, with renowned faculty and choreographers from colleges across the country, forming personal connections between the current generation of leading dance professionals and the next. This event helps students fully explore college dance opportunities and to assist them in navigating the college admissions process.

"awhile" Selected to Perform at WHITE WAVE DUMBO Dance Festival

Danielle's work "awhile" will be showcased at the Gelsey Kirkland ArtsCenter in Brooklyn NY. DUMBO Dance Festival boasts, “a long-time history of nurturing the work of emerging artists…<and> is dedicated to showcasing the freshest and the most individual voices in the dance field today.” The festival runs from October 11th-14th. Danielle is excited to bring her work to a National Stage and share the experience with her dancers. "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" Spring Musical at the Univeristiy at Buffalo

The musical "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown," based on the Pedro Almodóvar film of the same name, will be presented by the UB Department of Theatre and Dance from April 26th-April 29th and again from May 3rd-May 6th. "Ummm" set to perform at East Carolina Univeristy's Archie Burnette Theatre as part of Random Acts

"Ummm" choreographed by Danielle Lydia Sheather, was set this past summer at East Carolina University's Summer Jazz Dance Intensive. The piece is influenced by many of the Jazz Dance Greats with a contemporary feel. The music, Would You by Touch and Go invites the audience to hear and see the intricate relationship between jazz music and jazz dance. Danielle is excited to have her work showcased in Random Acts, as the name implies, it’s a smorgasbord of dance, musical theatre, poetry, and other styles of performance art. The performance runs April 21-22 at the Archie Burnette Studio Theatre.

"IF" Selected to Perform at Triskelion Arts Center through the WAXworks Showcase

Danielle's work IF, which premiered at ZUZI! Theater in Tucson, AZ on June 24th, 2016 was selected to be presented at the WAXworks Showcase held at Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn, NY on March 25th, 2018. Zodiaque Dance Ensemble presents, "Cool Hunting"

Danielle's latest work "awhile" will be showcased at the Center for the Arts Drama Theater at the University at Buffalo. The piece was created through phrase work inspired by time and is set the vocals of Nina Simone's Where Does the time Go? composed by Sandy Denny. National High School Dance Festival

Danielle will be teaching at the National High School Dance Festival hosted by Point Park University. During the festival, students will train with resident dance faculty, guest artists and choreographers to develop a solid foundation of skills. They also have the opportunity to attend Gala Concerts and audition for participating universities and summer programs.

Women in Dance Conference, NYC

In July of 2017 Danieller applied to present her choreographic work, IF at the Women in Dance Conference in New York City. The piece originally premiered in 2016 at ZUZI Theater in Tucson, Arizona is a solo paired with the poetry of Rudyard Kipling and Yann Tiersen, "A ceux qui sont malades par la mer calme." It investigates not the question "if?" but the duality and dichotomy of the word and the necessity to make a decision as one stands at a fork in the road. Danielle learned she was a finalist to present her work out of 700 submissions to the Conference and while she was not ultimately chosen she received a discounted rate to attend the conference which she will be attending in January 2018. She is incredibly excited to surround herself with likeminded advocates.

Broadway Bootcamp

Danielle will be teaching a class for the UB Department of Theatre & Dance Broadway Bootcamp. It is open and free to all high school students with a passion for performing. Students will have the opportunity to gain insight into what it might be like to train at the University at Buffalo and have a chance to watch the current UB Dance and Musical Theater students perform.

Torn Space Theater Presents "The Gathering-Response Festival"

Danielle will be performing with Torn Space Theater as they return to the industrial setting of Buffalo’s Silo City for their latest immersive theater experience. Collaborating with local artists, technicians, and performers, The Gathering focuses on ideas of surveillance and autonomy, combining the artifacts and ideologies of our collective experience into a singular spectacle. The performance runs August 18th and 19th.

Danielle will be teaching for three days (August 9-11th) at East Carolina University for their annual Jazz Dance Intensive. Current and incoming dance majors will be taking part in classes to help gear up for their upcoming Fall Semester.

Dance on Film

Danielle is currently in the process of editing a dance for film which she choreographed and filmed during her time as Guest Artist and Instrutor at East Carolina University. The work features dancers: Kat Corbett, Kristalyn Gill, and Ashley Hill with videography by Donterreo Culp, and Emily Donston. The full version will be posted soon!

Summer Solstice: A Dance Concert

Danielle is currently dancing with Mirela Roza and Dancers at the 2nd annual Summer Solstice performance at ZUZI! Theater in Tucson, AZ in a 20-min dance piece entitled Fragments. The cast of dancers are: Marquez Johnson, Mark Cuestas, Jordan Ruiz and Danielle Sheather. In the coming weeks they will be filming the work in a larger space, details to follow.
